The Lexus GX 460 is consuming too much fuel. A 4.6-liter V8 engine is delivering 300 hp and 330 lb-ft, which is enough for different kinds of off-road actions. It is also consuming 16 mpg. In the same class, we have Lincoln Aviator or Range Rover Sport with way better outputs. Yes, these are not so good off the road. But, the fact is that GX460 needs improvements.
There are two types of rumors we hear about the development directions. The first one is a hybrid engine. It is not an easy path, since this system will improve fuel economy, but it will damage performance. The other solution is a twin-turbo V6. The rumors about this one are louder, and even the Lexus LX could get a similar configuration.
