The all-new electric SUV 2021 Cadillac Lyriq is arriving. Generally, this is Cadillac’s first entrant into the luxury electric segment. The new model has been revealed recently and we must be honest, it looks unique and attractive.
From what we heard, General Motors is using the Lyriq as a launchpad for introducing a new scalable battery architecture. This architecture will be used on the most of upcoming EVs models. GM plan is on the table and this manufacturer is ready to release 20 new electrified models by 2023.
2021 Cadillac Lyriq Exterior Review
The new 2021 Cadillac Lyriq has been unveiled. This model provides very futuristic and sharp styling, never seen on other models in the class. Generally, this model is Cadillac’s first entrant into the luxury electric segment and it features a modern appearance.
The grille section compered to Escalade is upfront and we can see a one-piece thermoplastic cap that utilizes a light-up logo. Basically, the design of the Lyriq will use black coloring with diagonal gray contrast, giving this SUV a more distinctive look that will separate this model from the rest ones. At the back, unlike the rest of Cadillac models, the Lyriq features lights along the outer edge of the hatch that is then horizontal near the bottom.
Cabin Hosts Latest Techs
Like the exterior design, the new 2021 Cadillac Lyriq provides a unique and spacious cabin. This model has a layout for four seats, and it offers maximum comfort. The center console and the rear seats are equipped with the latest touchscreen.
Like the new 2021 Cadillac Escalade, Lyriq’s dashboard host almost the same giant 33.0-inch curved OLED display. This screen basically serves as an infotainment system and the driver’s gauge display. Unlike the Escalades system that can be controlled by a click wheel on the center console, the new Lyriq is only possible to navigate with a touch. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and also a Wi-Fi hotspot are all features that come standard.
2021 Cadillac Lyriq Powertrain Specs
Cadillac has been mum about exact details of the new Lyriq’s electric powertrain so far. From what we heard, this model will be offered in two variants. A dual-motor system will power the first one and it will use the all-wheel-drive system as standard. The next one and probably the default unit will use a single-motor setup and a rear-wheel-drive.
Acceleration should be almost the same as with the I-Pace. This model is capable of running from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds. General Motors will also use the new EV battery technology called Ultium on the upcoming Lyriq SUV. This architecture allows the automaker to produce batteries ranging from 50.0 kWh to 200 kWh. However, in order to beat Model X and the e-tron, the all-new Lyriq must have enough capacity to develop 300 miles on a single charge.
Release Date and Price
As we stated before, the new 2021 Cadillac Lyriq is an all-electric SUV that comes with unique styling. According to GM, this model will be available to purchase in the first half of the next year. Pricing will depend on trim level, and Cadillac Lyriq has it four.
The first one is Luxury trim and it cost $75,000 (est.), while the other ones are Premium Luxury starting at $80,000 (est.), Sport $85,000, and Platinum that reaches $90,000 mark.
