The carmaker is currently working on the 2020 VW Tiguan which will enter the dealerships will some minor changes. The 2020 VW Tiguan will be powered by the same engine found in the outgoing model and there is one option for all the trim levels. So, it is a 2.0-liter inline-4 turbocharged engine which will be able to make 184 hp and 221 pound-feet of torque. The engine will e mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and will come standard with front-wheel drive configuration. However, the all-wheel drive system will be offered as an option. Furthermore, its maximum towing capacity will be limited to 1,500 pounds. Speaking of the fuel consumption, the front-wheel drive model will get 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. The all-wheel drive version will be rated at 21 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
The exterior and interior design of the 2020 VW Tiguan
Visually, the 2020 VW Tiguan will look distinctive, conservative but at the same time attractive like the previous models, and this time it is expected to arrive with just some subtle changes. The front end will feature a wide grille and a pair of halogen headlights with cool daytime running lights. However, the SEL Premium model will get LED lighting. Furthermore, the rear end will sport LED taillights on all the trim levels. As well, the standard model will use the 17-inch wheels while the larger 18- and 20-inch wheels will be available on the SE and SEL trim levels. Moreover, the R-Line model will feature a sportier look compared to the base version.
The 2020 VW Tiguan comes with three rows of seats and offers a spacious and well-designed cabin. The seats are firm but very supportive and provide good bolstering. However, the third row is small and it is the best for children. As well, the Tiguan is also available with two rows of seats so it can place up to five passengers. The five-passenger model will have the cargo room of 37.6 cubic feet which is pretty generous.

The standard equipment of the base 2020 VW Tiguan will include a 6.5-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, Bluetooth, cruise control, cloth seats, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, active safety features, and so on. The SE model will add an 8.0-inch touchscreen for the infotainment, keyless ignition, heated front seats, synthetic leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, a power driver’s seat, standard active tech, etc. Furthermore, the SEL Premium will also get leather seats, active lane control, parking sensors, power liftgate, rain-sensing wipers, and Fender audio system.
Release date and price
The 2020 VW Tiguan is expected to hit the market later this year. Its price will start at around $25.000 while the higher trim levels will be roughly $40,000.
