The all-new 2020 Nissan Armada will be ready to hit the market sometime next year and will get some mild changes this time. So, we can expect some minimal changes in its exterior design while the interior is expected to be upgraded with new tech features. Under its hood, it will get the same V-8 unit as before, but for now, we don’t have any information about a hybrid unit.
Beneath the hood of the 2020 Nissan Armada
The new 2020 Nissan Armada will be powered by one sole engine option and it is going to be the same engine which powers the outgoing model. So, it is a 5.6-liter engine which is able to develop 390 horsepower and 394 pound-feet of torque. The engine will work with a 7-speed automatic transmission. Both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations will be available. The Armada will have the maximum towing capacity of 8,500 pounds. Furthermore, when connected to rear-wheel drive system, this unit will be rated at 14 mpg in the city, 19 mpg on the highway, and 16 mpg combined. The all-wheel drive variant will get 13 mpg in the city, 18 mpg on the highway, and 15 mpg combined. On the other hand, some news about the hybrid or a plug-in hybrid version of the Armada is at the moment unavailable.
The external appearance of the 2020 Nissan Armada
As far as the exterior design is concerned, the 2020 Nissan Armada will look a lot like the Infiniti QX80 model, especially the front fascia. It is bold, large and features fewer chrome accents than the Infiniti QX80. The front end will wear the familiar massive V-motion grille and large headlamps. The rear end will feature a bit different design and will get the more rounded taillights. Furthermore, the base model will ride on the standard 18-inch alloy wheels while the higher trims will be available with the larger 20-inch alloys which will give it a more premium look. On the other hand, the 2020 model year might get some subtle changes in its design, but the carmaker still hasn’t revealed the specific details. As well, some new exterior colors and new designs of the wheels might also happen.
The interior design of the 2020 Nissan Armada
The cabin of the 2020 Nissan Armada is spacious and well built. It has three rows of seats and it can accommodate up to seven or eight passengers. The front seats are supportive and all-day comfortable. The second row is also pretty good and slide and recline in every trim level; in the Platinum model, they are also heated. Furthermore, they are offered with a bench or two captain’s chairs. The third row of seats is average, and perhaps the best for kids since the adults might find it a bit tight. The base model is equipped with cloth upholstery while the higher trim levels will get leather seats. As well, it will also feature fake wood trim, chrome accents, and soft materials. The Platinum and Platinum Reserve trim levels will also feature leather inserts on the doors.
Speaking of the cargo space, the Armada will offer the room of 16.5 cubic feet with all seats up. With the third row folded down, the Nissan has the room of almost 50 cubes. However, with both the second and the third row folded down, the cargo space expands to even more than 95 cubic feet. Furthermore, in the center of the dashboard, it will be placed a standard 8.0-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system.
The equipment and safety features of the 2020 Nissan Armada
Like before, the 2020 Nissan Armada will be offered in four trim levels and those are the base SV, SL, Platinum and Platinum Reserve versions. The SV model will come standard with an 8.0-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, Bose audio system with 14 speakers, keyless entry/ignition, navigation, front and rear parking sensors, etc. The standard safety equipment will include adaptive cruise control, six airbags, automatic emergency braking, a rear-seat reminder, blind-spot monitors, a rearview camera, and traction control. The Platinum and Platinum Reserve trims will also get a camera-based rearview mirror.
Furthermore, the SL model will add 20-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, self-dimming mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, a powered tailgate, etc. The Platinum model will add two-tone leather upholstery, a power tailgate, heated steering wheel, dual 7.0-inch screens for the rear seat entertainment, more chrome details, and second-row captain’s chairs. Unfortunately, the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity won’t be available once again. A surround-view camera, active lane control, and blind-spot monitors will also be offered.
