In the second half of 2019, we can expect the all-new 2020 Lincoln Aviator which will be fully upgraded. It will get two engine options, among which the one is going to be a plug-in hybrid engine. Visually, the new Aviator will look very attractive but at the same time simple and elegant. The interior will be very comfortable, spacious, and luxurious even in the base trim level. Furthermore, the manufacturer will equip it with the latest tech features and many modern safety systems. As well, the new Aviator will ride on the new platform which will provide excellent handling and towing capacities.
Powertrain and performance of the new 2020 Lincoln Aviator
The all-new 2020 Lincoln Aviator will be available with two types of engines beneath its hood. And there will one traditional and one hybrid option. So, the standard engine is going to be a 3.0-liter V-6 twin-turbocharged engine. This engine is expected to deliver 400 horses and 450 pound-feet of torque. It will be mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and the rear-wheel drive system will be standard. However, the all-wheel drive system will also be offered.
On the other hand, the Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring edition will be a different unit and it is going to be a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The Black Label Touring model will also be powered by this unit while the rest of the models will get the traditional engine which we have mentioned earlier.
So, the plug-in hybrid unit will combine the same 3.0-liter V-6 twin-turbo engine with an electric motor. There will also be a lithium-ion battery placed under the floor, but for now, the manufacturer hasn’t revealed the size of the battery. So, the total output of this engine will be 450 horses and 600 pound-feet of torque. It will also use the same 10-speed automatic gearbox and will come with all-wheel drive system as standard. Furthermore, it will have a Pure EV mode and a Preserve EV mode. As well, it is expected to provide an all-electric range of at least 30 miles.
The exterior design of the newest 2020 Lincoln Aviator
The newest 2020 Lincoln Aviator will ride on the new platform this time and it is called the CD6 architecture. As for the exterior design, the Aviator will feature a clean design with simple and flowing lines. So, the production model won’t get any large changes compared to the concept version. Furthermore, the front end will get an attractive grille which will feature a different design on each trim level. There are also sleek headlamps and pronounced bumper. As well, the headlamps will be available with adaptive LED lighting. The profile of the vehicle is also nicely sculpted and we will also notice a sloping roof. Furthermore, the Grand Touring model will get an industrial metal trim.
The interior design of the 2020 Lincoln Aviator
Inside, the 2020 Lincoln Aviator will be very spacious and will get three rows of seats. All the seats will be comfortable and the second row can recline and slide forward which will make access to the third row much easier. The cabin is also quiet and very pleasant. Even the base model will come with 30-way adjustable massaging seats. On the center of the dashboard, there be a large 12.3-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system and configurable instrument cluster.
The premium Revel Ultima audio system with 28 speakers will be optional. Furthermore, there will be wireless phone charging and connectivity for 10 devices. The new Aviator will also get a new steering wheel with a voice command button. As for the cargo, the Aviator will be very generous and the hybrid model will get a battery pack placed beneath the floor so it won’t limit the cargo space.
Furthermore, the Lincoln carmaker will fit it with the new “Phone is a Key” technology which will allow the buyers to download the Lincoln app on the phones so they could use it got locking or unlocking the cars, to start and drive the vehicle, and to open the trunk. Speaking of the safety, the new Lincoln will get many safety systems and features. So, some of them will include reverse braking assist, active parking, assist for evasive steering and traffic jams, adaptive cruise control, hands-free automated parking etc.
Moreover, the Black Label model will get leather upholstery which will look like vintage luggage, wood trim, four-zone climate control, etc. Finally, the 2020 Lincoln Aviator will be offered in several trim levels. And those include the base, Reserve, and Black Label trim while the Grand Touring will be available in the base and Black Label versions.
Release date and price
Unfortunately, the carmaker hasn’t still revealed the price of the newest 2020 Lincoln Aviator. However, we will know more until it goes on sale next year, precisely in the summer of 2019.
