The Honda’s well-known three-row SUV is ready to get a few upgrades for the 2020 model year. It is the upcoming 2020 Honda Pilot which should be presented sometime during next year. In the terms of the design of exterior and interior, the Pilot probably won’t differ much from the current model. Except it might get some small adjustments in order to stay competitive. It will get the same V-6 engine but it is very likely to feature a hybrid powertrain for the first time.

Furthermore, what we can say for sure is that the upcoming 2020 Honda Pilot will get the same engine which powers the current model. And there is one single option for all the models. But depending on a trim level, the Pilot will get the different transmission. So, it is a familiar 3.5-liter V-6 engine which is able to develop 280 horsepower and the torque of 262 pound-feet. The engine will be paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission while on the top-line versions such as Touring and Elite trims, it will work with a 9-speed automatic gearbox which has been significantly improved for the 2019 model year.

The front-wheel drive is standard. And the all-wheel drive comes as an option for all the models and standard on the Elite trim. As well, the models with front-wheel drive system can tow up to 3,500 pounds. The all-wheel drive variants are rated at 5,000 pounds.

As far as the fuel economy, the FWD model connected to a 6-speed automatic gets 19 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. The AWD variant with a 6-speed automatic is rated at 18/26 mpg. Furthermore, the FWD model with a 9-speed automatic gearbox is estimated to be 20/27 mpg in the city/highway. And finally, connected to a 9-speed automatic and all-wheel drive configuration, the Pilot gets 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.

Exterior design

In the terms of exterior design, the 2020 Honda Pilot blends a crossover and minivan shape and looks rather pleasant. It will feature a familiar two-box shape with rounded lines. The 2019 model year has gotten a restyled grille and new, more handsome LED headlamps so the 2020 Pilot probably won’t get any major adjustments. Around back, there are revised taillights as well and more chrome details so it looks more attractive. Moreover, we might see some new designs of the wheels this time.

The interior features of the 2020 Honda Pilot

As before, the interior of the 2020 Honda Pilot is very roomy offering three rows of seats which makes it a good choice for large families. The first row is very comfortable and the driver’s seat is 10-way power adjustable. In the higher trim levels, there is also adjustable lumbar support and a heath-adjustable passenger’s seat. As well, the second-row bench which can accommodate three passengers comfortably. And they can be replaced by the captain’s chairs in the range-topping models.
