The production version of the already announced hybrid version of the popular Honda CR-V is finally here, and we are soon expecting to see the all-new 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid. The new Honda will be powered by a hybrid engine which will be available in several driving modes. Visually, it won’t be much different from the standard model except the badging and perhaps some small details. The Hybrid will also be offered in several trim levels as the standard version.
Powertrain and performance of the 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid
It is finally confirmed, and the manufacturer is finally ready to reveal its all-new 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid. So, the CR-V will now offer the newest hybrid version alongside the traditional engines. This powertrain will combine a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder i-VTEC gasoline engine with an electric motor. So, the total output of this engine will be 181 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque.
The new Honda Hybrid will be available with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive variants. And the FWD model is expected to be more fuel efficient. There will also be a lithium-ion battery which will make it available to go on the all-electric power only. The FWD model will get 53.3 mpg while the all-wheel drive model will be rated at 51.4 mpg. As the matter of fact, the new Honda CR-V Hybrid will have three driving modes and those include EV Drive, Engine Drive, and Hybrid Drive.
On the other hand, the base model will be powered by the same 2.4-liter inline-4 with the output of 184 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque. The higher trims will use a 1.5-liter turbo-4 which is able to make 190 horses and 179 lb-ft of torque.
The exterior and interior design
Visually, the 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid won’t get any major changes compared to the standard model. The front end will wear the same chrome grille, sharp headlamps, and pronounced bumper. The base model will ride on the 17-inch alloy wheels while the higher trims will be offered with the larger 18-inch wheels which will give it a more luxurious look. However, the Hybrid model will get unique badging and perhaps some new exterior colors.
As for the interior design, we expect the same as well. It has two rows of seats which are upholstered in cloth in the base model while the higher trims will get leather upholstery. The EX and more expensive models will have 12-way power adjustable driver’s seats and heating function for both seats. The second row is also pretty good and provides sufficient roominess. The cargo space measures 39.2 cubes while with the rear seats folded down, it expands to 75.8 cubic feet.
On the tech front, the base model will include power windows and locks, a 5.0-inch audio system, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, alloy wheels, and so on. The higher trims will add a 7.0-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, heated front seats, a power moonroof, power tailgate, navigation, and many others.
Release date and price of the 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid
The newest 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid is expected to hit the market in following months. The price of the hybrid model is expected to be around $41,000.
