The brand-new 2020 GMC Acadia has been spied during the testing on the public roads and based on the spy photos we can conclude that it will get a revised exterior, especially on the front fascia. The interior will also be refreshed and will get more tech features. Under the hood, there will be two engines to choose from, and this time it might get a new 9-speed automatic transmission.
Engine and performance of the 2020 GMC Acadia
The upcoming 2020 GMC Acadia will be powered by the same engines which are found in the 2019 model year. And there are two options available. The base is a 2.5-liter inline-4 unit which is able to make 194 hp and 190 lb-ft of torque. The engine will work with a 6-speed automatic transmission and will come with a choice between front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. The front-wheel drive model will get 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. The all-wheel drive version is rated at 21/25 mpg.
There will also be an optional unit and it is going to be a 3.5-liter V-6 engine. This one will have the output of 310 hp and 271 lb-ft of torque. It will also use the same transmission and will be offered with two drivetrains. Connected to front wheels, this unit will get 18/25 mpg. The all-wheel drive model will be rated at 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. However, according to some sources, the new Acadia might also offer the new GM 9-speed automatic gearbox.
The exterior design of the 2020 GMC Acadia
As the second generation of this model, the 2020 GMC Acadia will continue to ride on the same GM’s C1 architecture which also underpins the Cadillac XT5 and Chevy Blazer models. However, the new GMC Acadia will get a more modern look and sleeker appearance. We can expect some significant weight savings too.
As for the exterior design, the new 2020 GMC Acadia has been spotted during its testing wearing camouflage mostly on the front end. So, there will be a new boxy grille with horizontal slats and mesh trim. There will also be a pair of angular headlights which will be completely overhauled. So, like we can conclude the new Acadia will feature a whole new front fascia with a more upright look and more square edges. On the other hand, we can expect some changes on the rear too. And those will include the new, vertical taillights alongside the new rectangular exhaust outlets. As well, it is expected to get more chrome trim.
Moreover, the range-topping Denali trim will get unique lighting, more chrome details, and 20-inch alloy wheels. As well, the All-Terrain package will provide more off-road trim.

The cargo space measures 12.8 cubic feet and the maximum capacity is 79 cubic feet. The second row comes with a bench and the captain’s chairs are also available. In the center of the dash, there will be a standard 7.0-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Furthermore, the higher trim levels will get the leather upholstery.
