The newest 2020 Cadillac XT5 is currently been tested on the public roads. However, despite the camouflage, we were able to see that its new exterior design will be inspired by the Escala concept and the latest XT4 models. The carmaker has given it a mid-cycle refresh meaning that it will get the revised front and rear fascias. Visually, the interior will remain the same while it will get more tech features now. Under its hood, the new Cadillac will get a new turbocharged engine alongside the hybrid unit as well.
2020 Cadillac XT5 powertrain and performances
The current model is available with one single option under its hood. However, the 2020 Cadillac XT5 will also offer some new engines this time. So, the familiar 3.6-liter V-6 will return for 2019 and it will be able to develop 310 horsepower and the torque of 271 pound-feet. It will be mated to an 8-speed transmission and a choice between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. However, according to the latest news, the upcoming Cadillac should get a new GM 9-speed automatic transmission this time. Speaking of the fuel efficiency, the front-wheel drive model is rated at 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. The all-wheel drive variant gets 18 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
On the other hand, the 2019 Cadillac XT5 will also be offered with a new 2.0-liter inline-4 turbocharged petrol engine as an option. Furthermore, the Chinese market is expected to get a mild-hybrid system in the newest XT5 as before. However, it is still not clear if the carmaker will offer a hybrid powertrain for the American market as well.
Design of exterior
The Cadillac XT5 is an attractive and very handsome SUV with its clean design, beautiful details and elegant lines, but it at the same time, it also looks aggressive. The carmaker is now working on the newest version which will appear on the market as 2020 Cadillac XT5. The interior design of the 2020 Cadillac XT5
The interior of the 2020 Cadillac will remain a place of elegant, quiet, and modern. The cabin is made of high-quality materials such as real wood, leather, aluminum, and carbon fiber. It is sufficiently spacious and it can accommodate up to five passengers without any discomfort. The base model comes with synthetic leather upholstery while the higher trim levels will get nicer real leather. The second row of seats can slide if needed more cargo room leg room. With all seats up, the XT5 offers the cargo room of around 30 cubic feet. However, with the second row folded down, there is the room of up to 63 cubic feet. The dashboard will be fitted with an 8-speed touchscreen for the infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
So, as we can conclude, the new 2020 Cadillac XT5 won’t get any changes in the terms of styling and design, but it will get some new tech features including the Super Cruise partial self-driving system.
2020 Cadillac XT5 equipment
The 2020 Cadillac XT5 will be available in base Luxury, Premium Luxury, Sport, and Platinum trim levels. The base model will come standard with power front seats, leatherette upholstery, power liftgate, GM’s OnStar concierge, safety connectivity, keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a rearview camera, 18-inch wheels, and so on. The Premium trim will add heated seats, leather, blind-spot monitors, a panoramic moonroof, parking sensors, and rear cross-traffic alerts. The Driver Awareness package will add lane departure warning, active lane control, automatic emergency braking, and automatic high-beam headlamps. Navigation, larger 20-inch alloys, and Bose audio will also be available.
The Premium Luxury model will also include 20-inch alloy wheels, LED headlamps, and an adjustable suspension. Full-speed automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control will be offered too. The top-line Platinum will also get a head-up display, nicer leather, and an 8.0-inch instrument cluster.
Release date and price
According to the latest information, the all-new 2020 Cadillac XT5 should be presented sometime at the beginning of 2019. And it should go on sale later next year. The price is not yet revealed, but it should stay close to the current which starts at around $41,700.
