We have some great news! The manufacturer is soon planning to reveal its all-new 2020 Audi Q5 E-Tron alongside the standard model. The new Q5 will finally a plug-in hybrid engine for the first time. In terms of exterior and interior design, we don’t anticipate any major changes since the Q5 is a still good looking, handsome, and well-equipped SUV.
Engine and performance of the 2020 Audi Q5 E-Tron
The German manufacturer has announced the news about the launching of 10 plug-in hybrids and 10 electric vehicles by the year 2025. So, the new 2020 Audi Q5 E-Tron will now be powered by a new engine and it is a plug-in hybrid unit. This powertrain will combine a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor. The petrol unit will be able to develop 188 horses and 236 pound-feet of torque. And the electric motor will have the output of 108 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque. Unfortunately, the total output of this plug-in hybrid unit is still unknown.
Furthermore, the engine will be mated to a 7-speed-dual-clutch transmission. The petrol engine will send power to front wheels while an electric motor will power the rear wheels. So, the all-wheel drive layout will be standard. Moreover, according to the automaker, the new 2020 Audi Q5 E-Tron will provide an all-electric range between 36 and 42 miles.
The exterior and interior design of the 2020 Audi Q5 E-Tron
Speaking of the exterior design, it is said that the new 2020 Audi Q5 E-Tron won’t get any changes compared to the standard model, except the badging. So, the front fascia will get the brand’s well-known shield grille and a pair of standard xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights. The LED headlights will be optional. On the rear end, we will notice a pair of elongated tailpipes and a power tailgate. The roof rails will be standard and the base model will ride on the 18-inch wheels. However, it will be available with the larger 19- and 20-inch wheels as well.
Like the base model, the upcoming 2020 Audi Q5 E-Tron will get two rows of seats and will be able to welcome up to five passengers. The seats are comfortable and supportive, especially the front ones. Even in the base trim, the Q5 gets leather seats and the wood trims with matte and glossy finishes for a more premium look will be optional.
The standard equipment will include three-zone climate control, power-operated front seats, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, an audio system with 10 speakers, USB, Bluetooth, a 7.0-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, CD player, HomeLink garage opener, a rearview camera, etc. The higher trims will add a panoramic sunroof, Bang & Olufsen premium audio system, navigation, an 8.3-inch touchscreen, heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and many other more. Furthermore, it will also be available with the Virtual Cockpit digital instrument cluster.
Release date and price
The all-new 2020 Audi Q5 E-Tron should arrive sometime in the beginning of next year. Its price is expected to be around $52,000.
