2019 VW Tiguan R Line powertrain and performance
As before, the upcoming 2019 VW Tiguan R Line will be powered with one single engine under its hood and it is the only option for all the trim levels. It is the same 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. This unit is capable of delivering 184 horsepower and the torque of 221 lb-ft. It works with an 8-speed automatic transmission and comes with front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. Its maximum towing capacity is limited to 1,500 pounds. Connected to front-wheel drive layout, this engine gets 22 mpg in the city, 27 mpg on the highway, and 24 mpg combined. With all-wheel drive configuration, it is rated at 21 mpg in the city, 27 mpg on the highway, and 23 mpg combined.
Design of exterior and interior
The 2019 VW Tiguan features a conservative, sharp, and nice exterior styling. The front end wears a wide grille and a pair of halogen headlamps. The headlights are available with LED lighting only on the SEL Premium model. The rear end looks rather simple and there are LED taillights on all the versions and they are placed high on the rear fenders. There is also an available R Line package which is offered in the SEL and SEL Premium trim levels which give the 2019 VW Tiguan R Line m a more premium and sportier appearance, more exterior color combinations, and larger wheels in sizes of 18- and 20-inches.
The interior of the 2019 VW Tiguan R Line doesn’t differ from the standard model and features a simple design. It is available with two-row and three-row seating configurations but the third row is very tight and the best for kids. The two-row model offers the cargo room of 37.6 cubic feet. The first and the second rows of seats are comfortable and provide excellent head and leg room. On the center of the dashboard, there is a standard 6.5-inch touchscreen while the R Line model will get a larger 8.0-inch display.
The standard equipment in all the models will include Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, dual-zone climate control, USB, a rearview camera, cruise control, fold-flat second-row seat, and so on. The higher trim levels will add a larger touchscreen, leather upholstery, active lane control, parking sensors, Fender audio system, rain-sensing windshield wipers, power liftgate, heated front seats, keyless ignition, and so on.

The production of the newest 2019 VW Tiguan R Line is set to begin this autumn. The price is expected to be in a range between $26,000 and $38,500.
