Because of its flexibility, practicality, good overall ride quality, and comfortable interior, the Subaru Crosstrek has quickly become popular among small-SUV fans. It is also capable, good off-roader, and loaded with good standard equipment. The current, 2018 model year has recently been presented and it has been fully reworked since it has entered the second generation. So, the 2019 Subaru Crosstrek will carry over the same design and specs as the 2018 Crosstrek.
The 2018 model year has been completely revised becoming more appealing to the buyers. It has been moved to the new platform which has made it better to handle and maneuver. There are also more standard tech features including Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and improved drive-assistance systems. As well, the interior is cozier and quieter than before which makes the ride comfort much better. However, the current model keeps using the same inline-4 unit which provides almost the same power as the previous generation. However, according to the latest reports, the 2019 Crosstrek might get the all-new plug-in hybrid engine under its hood. But any more details or information are still not known to the public.
Engine and performance
We expect the same engine which powers the 2018 model year to be found under the hood of the 2019 Subaru Crosstrek. It is a familiar 2.0-liter 4-cylinder flat with direct injection. This engine has the output of 152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque. The base and the Premium trim levels will use a 6-speed manual while the continuously variable transmission will be standard on Limited version and optional for the other trims.
Mated to a manual gearbox, it is rated at 23/29 mpg. Combined with a CVT, it gets 27 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. Furthermore, as we have said previously, the latest rumors indicate that the new Crosstrek will finally get its first plug-in hybrid powertrain.
Design of exterior and interior
The current model is now based on the new platform. But in the terms of exterior styling, it hasn’t changed much from its forerunner. It is now a bit longer and wider, and the most noticeable change is the new, wider taillights. As well, on the front section, we could notice refreshed grille and revised “hawk-eye” headlamps. So, the 2019 Subaru Crosstrek is expected to continue with the same design.
Inside, the 2019 Subaru Crosstrek will feature two rows of seats and will be able to carry up to five people as before. The current model has been revised providing more comfort and more equipment. All the models are equipped with cloth upholstery, Bluetooth, a 6.5-inch touchscreen with infotainment and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 17-inch alloys, split folding rear seats etc. In the Premium trim, we will also see heated front seats and mirrors, sound-insulated front windows, and available moonroof and a larger touchscreen. The Limited version will add 18-inch wheels, leather, Harman Kardon premium audio, upgraded display, and so on.
Release date and price of the 2019 Subaru Crosstrek
The carmaker hasn’t revealed when we can expect the newest 2019 Subaru Crosstrek. The price will most likely remain similar and it starts at roughly $22,000 while the range-topping version is around $27,000.
