The brand-new 2019 Porsche Macan has been spied during its testing with minimal camouflage. And we could notice from the instant that it will get some changes in the styling but won’t majorly change from the current version. Inside the cabin, there will be a larger touchscreen but the most noticeable changes will be found under the hood.
Engine and performances of the 2019 Porsche Macan
Since the 2019 Porsche Macan is now getting a mid-cycle refresh, we can expect some changes on the engine front as well. The carmaker has decided to add some new gas engines and to remove the previous diesel engines from the lineup, at least in the United States. So, depending on a trim level, the new 2019 Porsche Macan will use several units.
The base Macan will use the same 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. This unit will be able to make 248 horses and 300 pound-feet of torque. The mid-range Porsche Macan S will use a completely new powertrain. It is a 3.0-liter V-6 engine which is also used in the newest Porsche Panamera. Although the carmaker still hasn’t revealed the exact specifications, this unit should be able to deliver around 355 horsepower. Furthermore, the Macan Turbo will no longer use the previous 3.6-liter V-6 turbocharged engine. But instead, it will be powered by a smaller 2.9-liter V-6 turbo unit. This new engine should be capable of making around 434 hp which is 40 horses more than in the previous version with 394 hp.
Moreover, according to some sources, the Macan might also receive a plug-in hybrid engine which will combine a V-6 unit with an electric motor. However, any further information is not yet revealed.
Redesign of the exterior
The all-new 2019 Porsche Macan has been spotted during its testing wearing barely any camouflage. However, compared to the current model, the 2019 Macan won’t drastically change and we can expect some subtle changes. On the front end, we could notice redesigned headlamps and new front bumper with a wider lower opening. The grille will be revised too and there are no longer separate fog lights. The rear end will wear new taillights also and quad exhaust outlets which lead us to conclude that the prototype which the carmaker is testing, is the range-topping Macan Turbo version. The rear bumper seems to be unchanged but this might change in the production model. Furthermore, the side profile of the new Macan appears to be unchanged also.
Design of interior of the 2019 Porsche Macan
There isn’t much information about the interior of the newest 2019 Porsche Macan. But we don’t anticipate any major changes in design except improvements in the technology department. So, the 2019 model year will arrive with two rows of seats and it can carry four passengers comfortably. The front seats are comfortable while we cannot say the same for the rear ones which are a bit tight. And the taller passengers in the back seats will definitively lack in legroom. The seats are covered in leather and Alcantara upholstery and the front seats are power adjustable as well. The Macan is generally made of high-quality materials and the whole design is simple and clear.
As for the cargo space, the Porsche offers the room of 17.7 cubic feet. However, with the rear seats folded down, there is a space of 53 cubic feet. The previous model has been equipped with the standard 7.0-inch screen but according to the spy shots, the 2019 Porsche Macan will get a larger touchscreen for infotainment system. So, the central air vents should be now placed lower on the center console.
As for the equipment, the base 2019 Porsche Macan should arrive with three-zone climate control, automatic headlamps, audio system with 10 speakers, 18-inch wheels, a larger infotainment screen, Bluetooth, leather upholstery, power adjustable front seats, USB, satellite radio, power folding side mirrors, power-operated tailgate, etc. The mid-level Macan S will add 19-inch wheels, V-6 engine, tinted and thermally insulated glass, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. The Macan GTS will arrive with lowered ride height, 20-inch wheels, an optional air suspension setup, and sportier Alcantara seats. The Macan Turbo will include Bose audio system with 17 speakers, navigation, adaptive seats, active suspension, and 19-inch wheels.
Furthermore, the Macan Turbo will also be offered with a Performance package which will add lower height, sport exhaust outlets, and air suspension. When it comes to safety, all the models are equipped with several airbags, lane departure warning, a rearview camera, and front and rear parking assist. However, a surround view camera and blind spot monitors will be optional.
Release date and price
The all-new 2019 Porsche Macan should be officially revealed sometime during this year. Perhaps it could take place at the Paris Motors Show or Los Angeles Auto Show. The price is not yet known, but we assume that it should be higher than the current which is around $49,000 for the base model.
