Undeniably eye-catching and one of the brand’s best sellers, the Lincoln MKX has appeared in 2006 and replaced the Aviator model. However, after it has entered the second generation, it has gotten a mid-cycle refresh. And for the 2019 model year, the Lincoln’s mid-size SUV was renamed the Nautilus and has received some cosmetic changes but also improvements in the engine and technology department. So, the all-new 2019 Lincoln Nautilus is basically the MKX model sharing the same underpinnings with the Ford Edge but will manage to improve all downsides of the previous model.
The Nautilus will now look better than ever with some new details and revisions, especially on the front. The size and the space inside the cabin will remain the same as in the previous MKX, but the technology should be improved offering more features. However, the carmaker still hasn’t revealed which features will be found in different trim levels as standard. Furthermore, for now, the carmaker has confirmed the two trims in the Nautilus lineup. Those are the mid-range Reserve and the range-topping Black Label. But we are almost sure that the base Premiere and the Select version should also be offered. In the powertrain front, some novelties and changes are expected also.
Engines and performances of the 2019 Lincoln Nautilus
As for the engine of the 2019 Lincoln Nautilus, we will see some revisions this time. It will no longer use a 3.7-liter V-6 naturally-aspirated engine but a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine which is used in the Lincoln MKC. This engine can produce around 245 horses and 280 lb-ft of torque. There will also be a stronger engine in the offer and it is a 2.7-liter V-6 twin-turbocharged unit. This one will be able to generate 335 horsepower and the torque of 380 pound-feet. Both engines will be paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
External upgrades and design of the interior
Visually, the 2019 Lincoln Nautilus will look more handsome and more attractive than before. Most of the changes made in its design will be visible on the front end which has gotten a new grille. Many would think that the new “split-wing” grille could make it look a bit awkward. But on the contrary, it has made it look better than ever. The headlamps have also been redesigned and are influenced by the similar design of the Continental’s lights. As the matter of fact, the design of the front and rear fascias are very much inspired by the Continental and Navigator models.
The changes of the interior in the 2019 Lincoln Nautilus aren’t that drastic but are visible surely. The carmaker has improved and added some new materials for the seats, doors, and dashboard. Furthermore, space has remained the same which is good, since this model is known for its roomy and functional cabin. The front seats are 22-way adjustable and are offered with a fatigue-reducing massage function. On the center of the dash, there is a standard Sync3 infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. As well, the Revel audio system with 19 speakers will also be available.
Release date and price
The 2019 Lincoln Nautilus should arrive this spring. The pricing is not yet announced but it should be slightly higher than the price of the current MKX. It starts at around $39,000 and goes up to $55,000 for the higher trim levels.
