The Lexus GX 460 is the well-known SUV which uses the body-on-frame platform which also underpins the Toyota 4Runner. However, it keeps being popular and wanted because it is very equipped with modern technology, safety systems, and many luxury features. It is available in the base, Premium, and Luxury trim levels. The Company has introduced the current, 2018 model year with several small upgrades which include a Semi-Aniline bench seat which comes standard in the Luxury model, and heated and ventilated seats which are now offered in the base trim too. As well, the Sport Design Package is now available with the captain’s chair second-row seating.
However, the 2019 Lexus GX 460is also rumored to hit the market soon, and according to the latest reports, it should probably be a carryover. Still, until the carmaker doesn’t confirm it officially, we cannot claim it for sure. Under its hood, it should use the same powerful V-8 with excellent capability. Visually, we also don’t expect any major changes and also nothing radical inside the cabin. We might also see some upgrades in the technology such as more standard features.
2019 Lexus GX 460 powertrain
The 2019 Lexus GX 460 will use a 4.6-liter V-8 unit under the hood. This engine is rated at 301 horsepower and 329 pound-feet of torque. It works with a 6-speed automatic transmission and comes standard with full-time all-wheel drive configuration. However, when it comes to the fuel economy, the GX isn’t much impressive. It gets 15 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway.
Exterior and interior design
As for the external design, we assume that the 2019 Lexus GX 460 will retain the same shape and styling as the current version. The GX 460 looks like a typical off-roader SUV with a boxy design. The front section features a familiar large spindle grille and a pair of attractive headlamps. It rides on the standard 18-inch wheels.
The interior of the 2019 Lexus GX 460 is a three-row crossover with seating for up to seven passengers. The second row is 40/20/40 split and the third row is flat-folding so it can offer more cargo space for luggage. However, the third row is the best suitable for children. The base model comes with NuLuxe upholstery while the higher trims get real leather. The dashboard is equipped with an 8.0-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. However, the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not offered once again.
Speaking of the equipment, the base model comes standard with cruise control, a rearview camera, power front seats, a moonroof, ten airbags, Bluetooth, and power features. Among optional equipment, there is a navigation, heated and ventilated seats, blind-spot monitors, and smartphone-app connectivity. The Premium is loaded with navigation, heated and cooled seats, and the Luxury also adds an adaptive cruise control. The Mark Levinson audio with 17 speakers and dual-screen DVD entertainment system for the rear seats are optional.
Release date and pricing
We cannot say when exactly the 2019 Lexus GX 460 should be presented. However, it might be later this year. As well, we don’t expect any major changes in the price which starts at around $52,000.
