The Jeep manufacturer is currently testing the next generation of its famous SUV which will enter the market as the 2019 Jeep Wrangler. However, in addition to the standard model, the carmaker will also reveal the new Wrangler truck which will share many similarities with the Ram 1500. So, the new Jeep off-roader will now receive some changes in exterior styling and more upscale interior and upgraded equipment.
2019 Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Truck engines and performances
Depending on a market, the all-new 2019 Jeep Wrangler will be powered by several engines among which there will be petrol and diesel units, and most likely a hybrid engine too. So, the one will be a 2.0-liter inline-4 turbocharged petrol engine. This one will have the output of 268 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. It will be coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission. As for the fuel economy, it gets 22/24/22 mpg with four doors, while the two-door version is rated at 23/25/24 mpg.
The next is a 3.6-liter V-6 engine which is able to generate 285 hp and the torque of 260 lb-ft. It is paired with either a 6-speed manual or the new 8-speed automatic transmission. The two-door version with manual transmission is rated at 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. The four-door model with a manual is estimated to be 17/23 mpg. And the automatic variant gets 18 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.
Furthermore, the European market will get the familiar 2/0-liter 4-cylinder engine with 268 hp. However, it will also be offered with the new diesel engine. And it is a 2.2-liter 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine which can produce 197 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. As well, some sources also claim that the Wrangler will be offered with a 3.0-liter diesel unit which makes 260 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque. The hybrid engine is also very likely to happen and it will combine a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with an electric motor. The total output of this one should be around 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque.
The Wrangler will be able to tow up to 2,000 pounds while the extended Unlimited model is rated at 3,500 pounds.
Visually, the 2019 Jeep Wrangler is larger than its forerunner, as to say it is wider and features more than two inches larger wheelbase. So, the Wrangler now provides more comfort and it is more stable. Speaking of the design, up front, there will be a familiar seven-slot and revised LED headlights which will now provide much-improved visibility. The bumpers will also be redesigned. As well, it will be available as a two-door and a four-door model. The new Jeep will ride on standard 18-inch alloy wheels.
The interior design of the 2019 Jeep Wrangler
The cabin of the 2019 Jeep Wrangler will also be redesigned with new materials. And although it will now be more modern, the Jeep will retain its recognizable simple look. The 4-door model will have a slightly more spacious cabin. Precisely the rear seat passengers will get more room because of the larger wheelbase. Furthermore, the front seats are cozy and supportive and the adjustable lumbar support is now standard. The seats are covered in fabric while the higher trim levels come with leather. The two-door model will have two seat belts in the rear and the 4-door Unlimited will feature three. As for the cargo, the Wrangler has the room of 32 cubic feet. However, with the second row folded down, there is a room of 72.4 cubes.
Equipment and safety
The base Sport model is available in two-door and four-door variants. It comes standard with manual door locks, a 5.0-inch display, audio system with 8 speakers, keyless ignition, roll-up windows, and steering wheel-mounted audio controls. The options will include navigation, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, air conditioning, a hardtop, a trailer-towing package, and a limited-slip differential. The Sport S will get air conditioning, alloy wheels, power windows and locks, and tinted windows. The optional package will add remote start, a 7.0-inch display, automatic climate control, heated seats and steering wheel, and Alpine speakers.
The Sahara model will include a garage door opener, more USB ports, dual-zone climate control, a 115-volt power outlet, and so on. Leather upholstery, a body-color hardtop, and LED headlamps will be optional. Furthermore, four airbags and a rearview camera are standard while blind-spot monitors and rear parking sensors will be optional.
Release date and price
The 2019 Jeep Wrangler should be available in late 2018 or at the beginning of 2019. Its price will start at around $28,500 while the higher trim levels will be around $42,000.

In addition of the standard Wrangler, the carmaker has also confirmed the arrival of the newest 2019 Jeep Wrangler Truck. Judging by the spy photos, the Wrangler Truck will be based on the new suspension inspired by the Ram 1500 model.
