Being completely revamped last year, as the 2017 model year, the current Compass now enters the market without any large changes. And it will most likely be the same with the newest version, the 2019 Jeep Compass. The new Jeep looks better than ever and features a host of impressive technologies. It is placed between the smaller Renegade and the compact Cherokee bit has much in common with the larger Grand Cherokee in terms of styling. It is a compact SUV which provides sufficient space but at the same time, it is easy to maneuver. As well, although it is a smaller SUV, the Compass is a good off-roader, especially the Trailhawk trim.
The 2018 model year has brought only one change and it is the front-wheel drive layout which is now available in the Limited trim level and which has only been offered with the all-wheel drive system. Besides that, the Compass has arrived as a carryover. The 2019 model should also follow the footsteps of the current model and for the next overhaul, we will have to wait for 2020. It will arrive in the same trim levels as 2018 version and those are Sport, Latitude, Trailhawk, and Limited.
Engine and performance
There will be one engine available for all the trim levels of the upcoming 2019 Jeep Compass. It is a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder unit which has the output of 180 horses and 175 pound-feet of torque. This engine is coupled to a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. The manual is standard on the Sport model and available in the Latitude. As well, it is available with front-wheel and all-wheel drive configuration. The front-wheel drive version with manual transmission gets 23 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. Connected to manual and AWD, so as FWD with automatic versions are rated at 22/31 mpg. The all-wheel drive system with automatic gearbox gets 22/30 mpg.
Exterior and interior of the 2019 Jeep Compass
The 2019 Jeep Compass features a similar design of the Grand Cherokee and this time it won’t get any changes since it has been refreshed last year. The Compass features some unique details depending on a trim level. So, the Limited model has more chrome accents and the Trailhawk provides better ground clearance and more black details. As well, these versions come standard with a two-tone roof.
The interior of the 2019 Jeep Compass can carry five passengers and it is sufficiently cozy and spacious. Behind the rear seats, there is a cargo space of 38.3 cubic feet. It is offered in four trims and the most affordable Sport comes with a 5.0-inch touchscreen, a rearview camera, 6 speakers, keyless entry, voice control, and Bluetooth. The Latitude adds automatic headlamps, ambient interior lighting, cornering fog lights, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and so on. On the Trailhawk, there are also 17-inch aluminum wheels, traction control system, skid plates, red tow hooks etc.
Release date and price
We assume that the 2019 Jeep Compass might be presented in late summer or perhaps in fall. The price shouldn’t change this time. It starts at $22,000 and goes up to $34,000 for the range-topping models.
