At the recent 2018 New York International Auto Show, the Infiniti manufacturer has seen an opportunity to present the brand-new Limited versions of their well-known SUVs, the QX60, and QX80 models. Naturally, the Limited version will represent the range-topping model so we can expect only the best. The newest 2019 Infiniti QX80 will feature upgrades both inside and out although we don’t anticipate any radical changes in the engine front.
The current version has been redesigned for 2018; there is a new design of the front fascia with a new grille and restyled headlamps which are similar to the one of the QX80 Monograph Concept model. As a result, we have a more handsome looking vehicle while the profile has stayed majorly unchanged. The interior is generally quality, very pleasant and equipped with a range of modern technologies.
However, the 2019 model year will now get the special edition version which will get most of the changes in the exterior and interior styling and it will look more luxurious. On the other hand, the changes won’t be applied in the engine department and the new QX80 will use the same V-8 unit. However, it is a strong and capable engine so there is no need to change it. As well, the carmaker will now offer it with a standard All-Mode all-wheel drive system.
Engine and performance of the 2019 Infiniti QX80
Like mentioned above, the 2019 Infiniti QX80 will be powered by the same engine as the current model. It is a 5.6-liter V-8 unit which is able to produce 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque. It is paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission. The Limited Edition will come standard with the All-Mode four-wheel drive system while the standard version also offers a rear-wheel drive layout. It will have the towing capacity of up to 8,500 pounds.
Redesign of the exterior and interior
The current model has been upgraded with restyled front section and new grille and headlamps. So, it looks more attractive than before. However, the 2019 Infiniti QX80 will also receive some small upgrades in order to stand out from the crowd. First of all, the Limited Edition version will arrive with the new exterior color called an Anthracite Gray. Furthermore, it will get more satin chrome details on the roof rails and the lower section of the bumper. As well, the newest Infiniti will ride on the large 22-inch forged alloy wheels which will give it bolder and more luxurious appearance.
The upgrades will also continue in the cabin of the 2019 Infiniti QX80. The first thing we will notice is the two-tone color combination. So, the seats will be upholstered in semi-aniline leather and Alcantara. Moreover, there will be some nice wood details and satin chrome trim for a more premium look. The dashboard should get a new color as well.
Release date and price
The 2019 Infiniti QX80 has just been presented at the New York Auto Show and we expect it to go on sale this summer. Unfortunately, there still isn’t information how much it is going to cost. But it will definitively be higher than the current version which is around $65,000.
