The Dodge Durango mixes practicality, muscular design, and elegant interior just perfectly. It is a large crossover SUV which is present on the market for decades but still manages to retain its popularity among families particularly. It has three rows of seats, it shows excellent towing ability and it is great for off-road adventures. The Durango rides on the larger version of the same platform which underpins the Jeep Grand Cherokee and it is also available with the all-wheel drive system. The new 2018 version has already been revealed but the latest news has announced the newest 2019 Dodge Durango.
Like the current model, the 2019 Durango is expected to bring upgrades in the technology only. The 2018 model year has added the new Durango SRT with the more powerful V-8 unit under its hood. As well, the infotainment system has been upgraded and features Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The rearview camera is also standard and the manufacturer has added two new exterior colors: B5 Blue and In Violet Metallic. However, the newest version will most likely be a carryover, but we will know more after the brand’s official announcement.
Engines and performances of the 2019 Dodge Durango
The 2019 Dodge Durango will continue with the same drivetrains as the current model. The base model is powered by a 3.6-liter V-6 engine which is able to produce 293 horses and 260 lb-ft of torque. The RWD is standard and it gets 19/26 mpg. The all-wheel drive is optional and it is rated at 18/25 mpg in the city/highway.
The next unit is a 5.7-liter V-8 which comes standard in the R/T trim and optional on the Citadel model. It can deliver 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. As for the fuel efficiency, it is estimated to be 14/22 mpg. This engine will haul up to 7,400 pounds.
The Durango SRT features a 6.4-liter V-8 engine with the output of 475 horsepower and the torque of 470 pound-feet. This engine gets 13 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway. It will be able to tow up to 8,700 pounds. Furthermore, all the versions will work with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Design of exterior and interior
In the terms of styling, the 2019 Dodge Durango will keep its familiar form and muscular design. Of course, the SRT model will get a more aggressive design of the front and rear sections. The interior shouldn’t change also. It features an optional three-row seating configuration and many features depending on a trim level. The dashboard is equipped with the standard 7.0-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Among other standard equipment, there is a rearview camera, three-zone climate control, 18-inch wheels, keyless ignition, several USB inputs, and manually adjusted front seats. The GT adds leather and synthetic leather upholstery, rear parking sensors, special steering tuning, and so on. The R/T will also include a Beats audio system, cooled front seats, and upgraded leather upholstery.
Release date and price
The carmaker still hasn’t revealed when the 2019 Dodge Durango will hit the market. The pricing should stay unchanged and it starts at around $30,000.
