A great family hauler, an excellent performer, and very capable, the Dodge Durango could be an excellent choice for those who are looking for all these qualities in a mid-size SUV. Its muscular design gives it even more powerful look and the spacious interior will definitively attract larger families. The all-new 2019 Dodge Durango has already been presented alongside the high-performance SRT model which could be a perfect replacement of the popular Dodge Ram SRT-10, a model discontinued in 2016. So, this time, Durango brings revised front fascia, and improved chassis and suspension.
2019 Dodge Durango engine
The 2019 Dodge Durango will offer several types of engines like its predecessor. The base is a 3.6-liter V-6 engine which can deliver 295 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. It is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and it is offered with rear-wheel and all-wheel drive systems. Furthermore, it can tow around 5,000 pounds. The rear-wheel drive model gets 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
The next engine will be optional on R/T and Citadel models. And it is a 5.7-liter V-8 engine which is able to make 360 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque. This unit also works with an 8-speed automatic and it also comes with RWD and AWD systems. As for the fuel economy, both versions are rated at 14 mpg in the city, 22 mpg on the highway, and 17 mpg combined. Its maximum towing capacity will be up to 7,400 pounds.
The SRT model will be powered by a 6.4-liter V-8 engine. This unit will have the output of 475 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. An 8-speed automatic is standard and it is offered with the all-wheel drive only. This model gets 13 mpg in the city, 19 mpg on the highway, and 15 mpg combined. This model will be able to tow up to 8,700 pounds.
Redesign of exterior
In terms of exterior styling, the newest 2019 Dodge Durango will feature a new front fascia. It will get integrated brake-cooling air intakes which will provide improved brake performance. The chassis has also been revised with a new suspension which will affect better performance and driving capabilities. But generally, the Durango will keep its clean lines and aggressive design. On the front end, there is the same large grille which features either body color or chrome trim, depending on a model and large LED headlamps. The SRT model will feature a unique design of the grille and hood and will get more air vents for better cooling.
The interior design of the 2019 Dodge Durango
The 2019 Dodge Durango offers a spacious cabin with three rows of seats. The first and the second rows of seats are great considering comfort and space. However, we cannot say the same for the third row which is a bit tight for adults and it is the best for children. The second row of seats is available with either a bench or captain’s chairs. However, equipped with captain’s chairs, the access to the third row is much easier. Speaking of the cargo space, it is average. But with the second and the third row folded down, there is a room of almost 85 cubic feet.

The larger 8.4-inch touchscreen with infotainment and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be optional.
Furthermore, the Durango R/T model will come with upgraded leather upholstery, cooled front seats, and a Beast audio system. The Citadel will include more chrome details, Alpine audio with nine speakers, and a moonroof. The SRT trim level also gets own styling, track-oriented suspension, upgraded brakes and special steering.
In the safety department, all models are equipped with airbags and active head restraints. However, the Durango will also be offered with several packages, Safety, Security and Convenience which will add blind-spot monitors, automatic high beams, rear cross-traffic alerts and so on.

However, instead of the third row, the new Durango will have a bed. Furthermore, it will be powered with the familiar V-8 engine which can deliver 475 horses. As well, it will be one of the fastest SUVs and will be able to hit 60 mph in only 4.4 seconds. It will ride on 20-inch wheels and will have the towing capacity of 8,600 pounds.
