The Chevrolet Tahoe is a full-size SUV which is known for its strong V-8 powertrain, spacious interior, excellent cargo room, and good towing ability. The 2018 model year has just entered the market with the new RST special edition which adds upgrades in power and styling. However, we can expect the new version of this model which will arrive as the 2019 Chevy Tahoe and we don’t anticipate any large changes.
Engines and performances of the 2019 Chevy Tahoe
Like its forerunner, the 2019 Chevy Tahoe will be offered with two V-8 units. Most of the versions will get a 5.3-liter V-8 engine which is able to make 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, but this time it might get an 8-speed automatic gearbox too. Connected to a rear-wheel drive system, the Tahoe gets 16/23/19 mpg. With all-wheel drive system, this engine is rated at 16 mpg in the city, 22 mpg on the highway, and 18mpg combined. The Tahoe is able to tow up to 8,600 pounds.
The range-topping RST model will be powered by a 6.2-liter V-8 unit. This engine is able to generate 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. It works with a 10-speed automatic transmission which is also used in the Cadillac Escalade. As for the fuel economy, the rear-wheel drive variant gets 14 mpg in the city, 23 mpg on the highway, and 17 mpg combined. The all-wheel drive model is estimated to be 14/22/17 mpg in the city/highway/combined.
Design of exterior
The 2019 Chevy Tahoe continues with its familiar boxy and square looks and sharp-edged styling. The front end features a heavy-chrome wide grille and semi-split headlamps which give it more distinctive appearance. There are also new LED daytime running lights. The outgoing, 2018 model year has introduced the new RST package which is optional on the LT and Premier trim levels and this package uses less chrome but instead more body-color and black paint trim. As well, it adds the larger 22-inch wheels. The standard model comes with 18-inch wheels while the higher trims ride on 20-inch wheels.
The interior design of the 2019 Chevy Tahoe
The 2019 Chevy Tahoe features a very spacious cabin with standard three-row seating configuration. However, in the new Chevrolet Custom, the third row can be removed completely which offers the 54 cubic feet for the cargo. The front seats are highly comfortable while the second row comes standard with a 40/60-split bench. However, it is also available with a pair of captain’s chairs. The third row can accommodate adults but it is more convenient for children.
The base model comes standard with fabric upholstery while the higher trim levels get leather. As for the cargo space, there is a room of 15.3 cubic feet for the cargo. With the third row folded flat, the Tahoe offers 52 cubes. And with both second and third row folded down, there is a space of almost 95 cubic feet. Generally, all the Tahoe models feature a quality and eye-catching interior equipped with many standard and optional features.
The 2019 Chevy Tahoe will be available in three trim levels including the base LS, LT, and Premier. All the models feature an 8.0-inch touchscreen for infotainment system in the center of the dash. The Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity are also standard.
The LS trim level includes Bluetooth connectivity, five USB ports, dual-zone automatic climate control, GM’s OnStar telematics with a 4G LTE antenna, an audio system with 6 speakers, a rearview camera, and rear parking sensors.

However, it is also available with an optional Luxury package which adds a power-folding second-row seat, blind-spot monitors, keyless ignition, and a heated steering wheel. The other options available are a moonroof, larger alloy wheels, and a rear-seat DVD entertainment system.
The Tahoe Premier also gets wood trim, magnetic dampers, ventilated seats, and navigation. The LTE and Premier trim levels will also be offered with the Z71 package which will improve capability and safety. It adds all-terrain tires, skid plate, and hill descent control. Furthermore, the RST package, which is also available in LT and Premier trim levels, will come with a Borla exhaust, Brembo front brakes, and a strong 6.2-liter V-8 engine.
The standard safety equipment will include 7 airbags, anti-lock brakes, a rearview camera, and stability control.
