The Chevy Suburban is one of the brand’s most famous vehicles worldwide which has debuted back in 1935. It is known for its roomy interior and ability to carry up to nine people. But that is not all, there is plenty of space for the cargo and it is able to carry an 8,300 trailer as well. So, this makes it very popular among large families and those who love long adventures. It features a strong V-8 powertrain and it is available with rear-wheel and all-wheel drive configuration. The current, 2018 model year has just arrived with the new RST package which added unique badging, 22-inch black wheels and glossy black details. As well, the LED daytime running lights are now standard in all the versions so as Brembo brakes and a Borla exhaust. However, the new 2019 Chevrolet Suburban is also announced and will arrive later this year.
The 2019 Chevy Suburban will represent the last model of the current, 11th generation. So this time, the Chevy will join the market with some minor changes only. And those might include some new color shades for the exterior and interior, upgraded infotainment system, and new transmission. However, under the hood, we won’t see any changes.
2019 Chevrolet Suburban engine and performance
The 2019 Chevrolet Suburban will be powered with one engine option for all the trim levels. It is a 5.3-liter V-8 unit which has the output of 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. This engine works with a six-speed automatic transmission. However, this time it might get the new 10-speed automatic gearbox. As for the fuel economy, it gets 16/23 mpg with rear-wheel drive. With optional all-wheel drive, it is rated at 15 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.
Design of exterior and interior
The 2019 Chevrolet Suburban features a boxy and rugged body shape and it probably won’t get any changes compared to the current models. However, according to the latest reports, it is expected to arrive with some new exterior colors only.
The cabin of the 2019 Chevrolet Suburban should remain unchanged except it might introduce a few more color combinations also. Generally, the Suburban is a great hauler, has three rows of seats and it is able to welcome up to nine passengers. The cargo space is also excellent and with the second and the third rows folded down, it has the room of even 122 cubic feet.
The dashboard is wide and features an 8.0-inch touchscreen with infotainment system. However, this time we might see the new MyLink infotainment system. As for the equipment, all the models come standard with cloth upholstery, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, power adjustable front seats, and three-zone climate control. The higher trims will also add leather seats, blind-spot monitors, keyless ignition, Bose audio system, ventilated front seats, a power liftgate etc.
Release date and price
The 2019 Chevrolet Suburban will most likely arrive sometime in the end of 2018. The price shouldn’t change from the current, and it will start at around $50,000.
