For 2018, the carmaker has introduced the second generation of its well-known Q5 SUV. So, the 2019 Audi Q5 should arrive mostly with no major changes. However, lately, we could hear some sources claim that we might see the hybrid variant of this model. Although this information is not yet confirmed, it is very likely to happen since all the major car companies are introducing some kind of electrification on existing models.
Engines and performances of the 2019 Audi Q5
The 2019 Audi Q5 will be powered by two engines as before. But we could also see a hybrid engine this time. So, the base will be a 2.0-liter inline-4 turbocharged engine which is able to make 252 horsepower and the torque of 273 pound-feet. The engine will be mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch S tronic transmission and will come standard with Quattro all-wheel drive system. It will go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds. Speaking of the fuel efficiency, it gets 23 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.
The SQ 5 model will use a 3.0-liter V-6 engine. This powertrain will have the output of 354 horses and 369 pound-feet of torque. It will be coupled to a Tiptronic 8-speed automatic gearbox and the all-wheel drive system is also standard so as the air suspension. The Audi SQ5 is able to hit 60 mph in 5.1 seconds. As for the fuel economy, it is rated at 19 mpg in the city, 24 mpg on the highway, and 21 mpg combined.
On the other hand, according to the latest rumors, the carmaker is planning to introduce a plug-in hybrid or a hybrid variant of the Q5 for 2019. However, we sincerely doubt that it will get a hybrid powertrain before 2021 model year.
Design of exterior
The 2018 model year has entered the second generation and has gotten a new exterior styling but kept its familiar design. Therefore, the 2019 Audi Q8 will continue with the same exterior design as its forerunner. The new Audi Q3 now seems to have a longer nose and a new front fascia. As well, there is a revised shield grille and headlamps equipped with HID lighting with LED daytime running lights. However, the LED headlamps are optional. Around back, there are new LED taillights, standard roof rails, and elongated tailpipes. The Q5 rides on the standard 18-inch wheels while the 19-inch and 20-inch wheels will be optional.
Furthermore, the high-performance SQ5 will feature a slightly different design It will include a unique design of the grille, roof spoiler, and unique headlights. As well, the SQ5 model will ride on the standard 20-inch alloy wheels but it will also be offered with larger 21-inch wheels.
The interior design of the 2019 Audi Q5
The interior of the 2019 Audi Q5 is luxurious, cozy, and well equipped even in the base trim level. It is quality and one of the best in its class. It comes with standard leather upholstery which is rare compared to its main rivals who offer the base models with cloth or synthetic leather. Both Q5 and SQ5 models come with standard two-row seating configurations and are able to accommodate up to five passengers. The 2018 model year has arrived a bit larger than before which has slightly increased the interior space and therefore provided more comfort. All the seats are comfortable and supportive, especially the front ones.
The dashboard is fitted with a standard 7.0-inch touchscreen for infotainment system and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. As for the cargo space, the rear seats are split in 40/60 and they can be folded down which increases the room to more than 60 cubic feet.
Equipment and safety of the 2019 Audi Q5
Like the current model, the 2019 Audi Q5 will be available in three trim levels. And those are Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige. The base Premium model will arrive standard with three-zone climate control, leather upholstery, a 7.0-inch touchscreen for infotainment, a rearview camera, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, CD player, USB, audio system with ten speakers, power windows and locks, power-operated front seats, lower speed automatic emergency braking, and a proximity key.
The Premium Plus model will add LED headlamps, a power panoramic moonroof, automatic braking, heated front seats with driver’s seat memory, hands-free tailgate, and blind-spot monitors. The range-topping Prestige will also include an 8.3-inch display, 20-inch alloy wheels, Bang & Olufsen premium audio system with 19 speakers, a navigation system, a head-up display, top-view camera and parking sensors. Some of the optional features will include ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a driver assistance package with an active lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam control, and adaptive cruise control. Furthermore, the Q5 is also offered with the Virtual Cockpit.
Release date and price of the 2019 Audi Q5
The newest 2019 Audi Q5 will most likely be presented this fall. The price should stay close to the current. And it begins at around $42,500 and will go up to $52,000.
